What helps people stay in a drug addiction treatment center?

Since successful outcomes often depend upon retaining the person long enough to gain the full benefits of drug addiction treatment centers, strategies for keeping an individual in the program are critical. Whether a patient stays in treatment depends on factors associated with both the individual and the program. Individual factors related to engagement and retention include motivation to change drug-using behavior, degree of support from family and friends, and whether there is pressure to stay in treatment from the criminal justice system, child protection services, employers, or the family. Within the program, successful counselors are able to establish a positive, therapeutic relationship with the patient. The counselor should ensure that a treatment plan is established and followed so that the individual knows what to expect during treatment. Medical, psychiatric, and social services should be available.

Whether a patient stays in treatment depends on factors associated with both the individual and the program.

Since some individual problems (such as serious mental illness, severe cocaine or crack use, and criminal involvement) increase the likelihood of a patient dropping out, intensive treatment with a range of components may be required to retain patients who have these problems. The provider then should ensure a transition to continuing care or “aftercare” following the patient’s completion of formal treatment.

The concept of drug addiction/dependence is being refined in light of new research on blood concentrations, receptor sites, brain chemistry and withdrawal syndromes. All mind-altering drugs, including alcohol, marijuana, heroin, other opiates, methamphetamine and cocaine, can produce addiction or dependence, develop intolerance, and induce a withdrawal syndrome after cessation of chronic use.

All of which is solvable at a luxury residential drug rehab center. Putting all this together, persons dependent on drugs or alcohol may have any or all of the following problems at the time they enter treatment:

Induced chemical imbalance
Genetic chemical imbalance
Social and psychological problems
Inhibited life and/or coping skills

On the assumption that one or more of these factors may be present, it is easy to see why different drug rehab programs at drug rehab centers work for some persons but not others. In summary, it is now believed that severe chemical imbalances exist in persons who continuously relapse despite drug treatment at a drug rehab facility and that the origins of those chemical imbalances may be chemically induced, genetic, or social and psychological.

Sometimes they just wont go to a drug rehab facility on their own. Whether or not it’s a high-end residential treatment facility in Malibu. In some cases a drug intervention may be needed to get the individual’s agreement to enter a drug rehab center. This can be set up with the drug rehab program through someone they work with or you may find your own intervention specialist. No two interventions are the same. The factors involved and the family dynamic can sometimes be so complicated and emotionally charged that each situation is different. An experienced intervention professional can help you bring as much order to the chaos as possible and plan out the necessary steps to take, whether it be through guidance over the phone or in person. The most important thing is that you take the first step, call the interventionist. Do what you have to do to get your loved one help!

Oh yeah. I know a couple people who have had some complications with drugs and drug addiction. Drug treatment centers are the best way to get your life back on track, especially if drug addiction is what got your life off track. There are some things in this life that we can’t do alone. Escaping drug addiction is one of those things. Believe me, I tried to kick the habit all by myself. I tried to go cold turkey and you know what? It blew up in my face. I didn’t realize that being a drug addict was so damn hard to change. It was like drug addiction had these sharp claws that were made of iron that were designed to stay attached to my skin no matter what. I didn’t understand how I could have gotten to the point that I had gotten to, but I was there. Going to one of the local drug treatment centers was a great decision on my part because nothing else was really going to work for me. The drug treatment center that I went to taught me all the right things that I needed to make myself sober and remain that way. I will forever be grateful for their efforts.

It can change your life, for starters, can help you get back to living life as you used to know it, before addiction turned you into a shell of anyone you’d ever hoped to be. If you’re a victim of drug abuse, addiction treatment at a professional drug rehab center is the last best chance you have to get better. If you’re here, reading this, you know what addiction can do. You know it ruins lives, wrecks families, leaves addicts incapable of caring about anything other than their next high. Now, you know what you can do about it. With so much at stake, anything other than the best drug rehab you can get just isn’t good enough.

Remember, a drug treatment program can’t start until an addict wants it to. You need help, that much is clear. Now you need to seek it out. The decision to enter a drug treatment center is never an easy one, for the obvious reason that seeking drug treatment means admitting vulnerability, and impotence. But you don’t have a choice. Again, the right drug treatment program will save your life. It’s hard to imagine how the right decision could ever be any clearer.

Well, you can be a dumbass and tell me that if you want, but I’m living proof that an intervention can work. And it can. I had an intervention done on me and, no, it wasn’t the coolest, but it did work. I was a hard core junkie. I admit it. It wasn’t the best part of my life, but it happened. My mom and the rest of my family had gotten to the point where they were fed up and it was time for the shit to hit the fan. I came home one day to a house full of people and they sat me down and told me what was up. It was definitely uncomfortable but I looked at it the way that i was supposed to. They wanted the best for me and they wanted me to know how much they loved me. They told me that my addiction was breaking up the family and I had to do something to make things right. They were right. I went to drug treatment and got my life back in order. So don’t tell me that an intervention can’t work. I know.
