Some people will tell you that you can’t get addicted to marijuana. They’re wrong. The plain fact of the matter is that marijuana addiction is no less real—and no less debilitating—than cocaine addiction or meth addiction. If you or someone you care about has succumbed to marijuana drug abuse, the only way out of the darkness is through a marijuana drug rehab center. Given the stakes, you simply can’t afford not to get the help you need.

The good news is that there are plenty of drug treatment centers in Los Angeles. The only catch is that none of them can help you until you muster the courage to take the first step. Only by admitting you have a drug addiction problem and resolving to seek help can you ever expect to get where you’re trying to go. For your own sake, here’s hoping you can muster the courage to finally do what you must.

What helps people stay in a drug addiction treatment center?

Since successful outcomes often depend upon retaining the person long enough to gain the full benefits of drug addiction treatment centers, strategies for keeping an individual in the program are critical. Whether a patient stays in treatment depends on factors associated with both the individual and the program. Individual factors related to engagement and retention include motivation to change drug-using behavior, degree of support from family and friends, and whether there is pressure to stay in treatment from the criminal justice system, child protection services, employers, or the family. Within the program, successful counselors are able to establish a positive, therapeutic relationship with the patient. The counselor should ensure that a treatment plan is established and followed so that the individual knows what to expect during treatment. Medical, psychiatric, and social services should be available.

Whether a patient stays in treatment depends on factors associated with both the individual and the program.

Since some individual problems (such as serious mental illness, severe cocaine or crack use, and criminal involvement) increase the likelihood of a patient dropping out, intensive treatment with a range of components may be required to retain patients who have these problems. The provider then should ensure a transition to continuing care or “aftercare” following the patient’s completion of formal treatment.

Oh yeah. I know a couple people who have had some complications with drugs and drug addiction. Drug treatment centers are the best way to get your life back on track, especially if drug addiction is what got your life off track. There are some things in this life that we can’t do alone. Escaping drug addiction is one of those things. Believe me, I tried to kick the habit all by myself. I tried to go cold turkey and you know what? It blew up in my face. I didn’t realize that being a drug addict was so damn hard to change. It was like drug addiction had these sharp claws that were made of iron that were designed to stay attached to my skin no matter what. I didn’t understand how I could have gotten to the point that I had gotten to, but I was there. Going to one of the local drug treatment centers was a great decision on my part because nothing else was really going to work for me. The drug treatment center that I went to taught me all the right things that I needed to make myself sober and remain that way. I will forever be grateful for their efforts.
